ACL-03 has on-board audio oscillator as an analog signal, which is used as a modulating signal. Alternatively facility is also provided for connecting an external audio-frequency signal as modulating input signal.
In ACL-03, Frequency Modulation is performed by the Varactor Modulator circuit and Phase Modulation is performed by FET amplifier with resonant load. The waveforms resulting from the above modulators are passed onto Mixer/ Amplifier circuit, which amplifies the signal by an adjustable amount.
